Have you ever wanted to soar like an eagle? Such freedom, such grace, such amazing views, and such quiet up in the skies. I was definitely drawn to that and in my college years received a hang gliding license and really enjoyed soaring high up. It is truly an unforgettable experience. Although I miss those times, I get to experience the "Eagle's Wings" in an even more powerful way today!
One of the ways that God describes His care towards us is by using the imagery of an eagle.
Exodus 19:4
4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians. You know how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me.
When we think of Eagle several things come to mind and many bring comfort to us.
#1. Speed.
It is swiftly that eagles fly. As soon as we turn to Jesus for salvation it is swiftly that He runs to us, it is swiftly that He flies to us. Our case is not lost in heavens bureaucracy; He does not delay.
2 Corinthians 6:2
2 For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you." Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.
He wants us to be His children and there is no delay on His part to adopt us and to save us.
#2. Renewal
When Jesus brings us back to the Father He does not leave us as we are; He renews us.
Isaiah 40:31
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.
Our vitality, our strength is renewed in Him and by Him. Without Jesus we will not have strength to do good and evil thoughts can overwhelm us. But with Jesus we are renewed and have strength and our heart is full of joy.
#3. Motherly care
Deuteronomy 32:10-12
10 He found them in a desert land,
in an empty, howling wasteland.
He surrounded them and watched over them;
he guarded them as he would guard his own eyes.[a]
11 Like an eagle that rouses her chicks
and hovers over her young,
so he spread his wings to take them up
and carried them safely on his pinions.
12 The Lord alone guided them;
they followed no foreign gods.
God does not just save us but He cares for our wellbeing with tender love. He is tender, supportive, protective, and encouraging. Isn't it wonderful to have such Heavenly Father!
Like an eagle God without delay flies to us, renews us and cares for us. We have been loved with great love. But this is not just for our own sake that He saved us and loved us. He loves others in this world and He wants us to share that great love.
John 20:21
21 Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
Just as Jesus was sent by the Father for our sake He is now sending us so we will fly to others and minister to them with the same great love that we received.
May God bless you as you bask in His love and share it with others.
